Apple WWDC 2025: What to expect at developers conference; how to watch

Every year there is a lot of talk surrounding the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) hosted by Apple. The clock is ticking for WWDC 2025 event that begins on Monday at Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California. It will continue through Friday. Apple’s summer software event will kick off with a keynote address by CEO, Tim Cook.

Apple’s much awaited WWDC25 is expected to feature some key announcements.

According to recent media reports and leaks, the tech giant is preparing for one of the biggest software ecosystem updates in recent memory, which would include a bold redesign and a sweeping rebranding.

Announcements expected and software updates

Apple is expected to give viewers a preview of iOS, macOS, and other software that will be the biggest visual changes to the Cupertino-based tech company’s software in years.

The announcements will also likely include iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS.

At WWDC25, these are not the only things that will probably change. According to reports, Apple is also renaming its software and abandoning version numbers in favour of a years-based approach to maintain consistency across devices. In other words, welcome to iOS 26. We will no longer see iOS 19.

New features for AirPods

Real-time translation capabilities might be added to AirPods, and Messages will get quality-of-life enhancements including FaceTime integration and simpler back navigation.

watchOS

Long-awaited health tracking features, like as blood pressure and glucose monitoring, may be included in watchOS updates.

Gaming app

A dedicated gaming app are also anticipated to be announced in WWDC25. This new platform, which could be pre-installed on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple TV devices, could secure games, leaderboards, chatting, and achievements.

Solarium’s new look

Apple recently launched the Soalrium interface, which is reportedly inspired from the visionOS used by the Vision Pro headset. As it seeks to provide a more consistent software experience across its devices, it is expected to have an impact on everything from the iPhone and iPad to Apple watches. According to further claims, the new design will contain glassy and see-through features and be referred to as a “Liquid Glass” user interface.

Developer tools and AI integration

In collaboration with Anthropic, Apple may introduce a new AI-based coding tool. A new version of Xcode might come with this tool. This event is being used by the company to interact with developers and share enhancements. New frameworks and APIs will be covered in over 100 sessions.

Even though many of the Apple Intelligence features that were announced in 2024 have not yet been implemented, the company continues to place high priority on AI. Apple is anticipated to give a sneak peek at how AI will be more deeply integrated into its software during WWDC25, though complete rollouts might be delayed until 2026.

WWDC25 will also set the stage for the release of the iPhone 17 lineup, which most people anticipate taking place in September.

How to watch WWDC 2025

Viewers can watch the keynote address and all sessions on Apple’s website, Developer app and YouTube channel with on-demand options after each stream.
