Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are no longer together.
“Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” a source exclusively told PEOPLE about the breakup between the 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress and the 57-year-old country singer.
“She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage,” said a source.
The couple has been living apart since the start of the summer, according to sources cited by TMZ, which broke the news first.
Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, are the kids of the long-time couple, who were married in June 2006. Earlier, Kidman was married to Tom Cruise.
On June 25, to celebrate their wedding anniversary, Kidman posted a picture of herself cuddling up to Urban on Instagram. She captioned the picture, “Happy Anniversary Baby ❤️ @KeithUrban.”
On Instagram on Aug 19, Kidman, who just finished filming “Practical Magic 2” in London, posted “summer memories” of her time spent with her daughters and other family members. Urban has been on tour, and his next stop is in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, Oct 2.
“I’m so lucky that I have Keith, who’s just my love, my deep, deep love,” Kidman said in an April 2024 interview with PEOPLE on her “lovely” familial support system. That gives me the ability to go and do whatever I have to do because I know where I can come back to.”
It’s not clear why the couple went their separate ways.
Growing up in Australia, Kidman and Urban have had highs and lows during their nearly two decades together.
Kidman and Urban were in their peak when both celebrities won and were nominated for the highest awards in their fields. They have encouraged and supported each other throughout the years, frequently showing up together at award ceremonies and Hollywood premieres.
Low phase in their life was when Urban checked himself into rehab for drug and alcohol addiction, months after their wedding. He and Kidman have both said that their relationship grew strong by his battles with addiction.
Urban said that an intervention staged by Kidman and several of his close friends transformed his life.
