Zac Efron was involved in a “minor swimming incident” that landed him in the hospital in Spain.
Efron’s rep told TMZ that the 36-year-old actor was taken to the hospital in Ibiza as a precautionary measure following a “minor swimming incident” at a villa on Friday night. The rep went on to tell the outlet that Efron was ultimately discharged from the hospital Saturday morning and he’s recovering just fine.
The outlet, citing a source, later updated its reporting to note that Efron was found inside the swimming pool by two people working at the villa and pulled him out of the water.
ET has reached out to Efron’s rep for comment.
Efron’s been busy traveling Europe as of late. His last Instagram post came earlier this week when he posted a carousel post paying homage to Simone Biles’ success at the Paris Olympics. His latest film, A Family Affair and starring Nicole Kidman and Joey King, dropped in June on Netflix. He had done tons of press for the romcom, and he was equally busy promoting The Iron Claw all of last year.
While promoting The Greatest Beer Run Ever in 2022, Efron told ET at the Toronto International Film Festival that he “almost died” after shattering his jaw in 2013. He also sustained a gash in the fall that required stitches. Following the incident, rumors began to spread that he altered his face with surgery.
“My mom told me. I don’t really read the internet, so, I don’t really give a f**k,” Efron said about rumors that he altered his face with surgery.
“It was funny,” he added. “It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good.”
